The Botter is a traditional fishing vessel that navigated the Zuiderzee waters for centuries. These vessels were indispensable for fishing and were crewed by two to four fishermen. After the completion of the Afsluitdijk in 1932, the fishing landscape changed dramatically, and new Botters were no longer built. Fortunately, a number of these iconic vessels are preserved by enthusiasts and associations.
