Tamiya German Schwimmwagen Type 166 Wide Wheel Version – TAM-35393
The European geography, criss-crossed by rivers and characterized by wetlands, presented the Wehrmacht with major military challenges and prompted them to develop the Schwimmwagen, an amphibious vehicle based on the Kübelwagen designed by Ferdinand Porsche.
With a 4-cylinder 25 hp petrol engine, the Schwimmwagen reached a top speed of 80 km/h on land. The three-bladed rear propeller was lowered manually via a rod and enabled speeds of up to 10 km/h in the water. Due to a shortage of materials, many Schwimmwagens were equipped with 133 mm tires, while the wider 200 mm tires offered significantly better off-road mobility.
